  Innovation in Process Manufacturing Presentations

When designing, constructing, managing, and operating upstream and downstream process manufacturing facilities, the management of crucial information throughout the lifecycle is critical. The projects in this category demonstrate excellence in the planning, engineering, construction, and beyond into operations for any process manufacturing facility, such as onshore or offshore oil and gas facilities, chemical plants, pharmaceuticals, food/beverage factories, and pulp/paper mills.

Fully Automatic Production Unit for Sika

Presenter: Ralph Nienhuis, Business Development Manager, and Marc De Bruyne, Technology Coördinator
Tuesday, October 19, 2:15 p.m. - 2:45 p.m.
Grontmij Industry
Zwijndrecht, Belgium

Grontmij Industry provided engineering, procurement, and construction management for a $12.9 million high-performance concrete plasticizer production installation at the INEOS Oxide site in Antwerp, Belgium. The project needed to be built as fast as possible so it was split into three
phases - storage area, chiller area, and process area. This enabled engineering, procurement, and construction of each subphase to take
place concurrently.

Vopak Tank Terminal Expansion Project

Presenter: Eric Borst, Market Manager Laserscanning, Piping Engineer, and Piet Zwinkels, Junior Engineer, Laserscanning
Tuesday, October 19, 2:45 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Royal Haskoning Industrial Engineering
Rotterdam, Netherlands

Royal Haskoning Industrial Engineering designed the tank storage and distribution system for a $60 million expansion of the Vopak Tank Terminal in South Holland. The project involved detailed engineering of the utility system; pipe racks for process, utility, and distribution lines; cable trays and instrumentation panel; and platforms for operation and maintenance. 3D laser scanning was used to compile exact as-built data of the existing plan.
