Daratech Ranks Bentley Software No. 1
Daratech's annual rankings of software vendors confirmed Bentley's continued number 1 position in software for process plant owner-operators. Bentley’s CEO, Greg Bentley, observed that the company's distinguishing initiatives to support reuse of design models and handover data throughout the lifecycle of operating plants are increasingly fruitful for its users and for Bentley. Its Data Quality Manager is now responsible for managing engineering information for over $50 billion of commissioned plant assets.
Daratech also ranked Bentley number 1 again among software platforms for plant creation and number 1 again in software for conceptual plant creation.
Daratech 2D vs. 3D Study
Daratech also developed a study about the relative merits of 2D vs. 3D plant creation and maintenance software based on the opinions of process and power industry engineers, managers, and executives engaged in plant creation, operations, and maintenance.
This study found, among other conclusions, that the average time to become a proficient 3D system user was between 140 and 240 days. The fastest average learning time was for Bentley's AutoPLANT software, which participants indicated had an average learning time of 140 days. For their ability to handle small projects, AutoPLANT and Bentley's MicroStation also received the highest user satisfaction scores.
This study ranked AutoPLANT number 1 in a direct comparison with its competitor products.

The ability to handle small projects also enhanced AutoPLANT’s top position (just below Bentley’s MicroStation):
