Here is a definitive check list of which SELECT Server components are required to be installed.
Hosted SELECT Server: The only component needed is the SELECT Server Gateway service. See the scenarios below to determine if you need the gateway service.
1. We will be running both pre-XM and XM applications
at our site(s)
Needed Components: SELECT Server Gateway service
- SELECT Server Gateway service (pre-XM applications)
- A gateway should be installed where ever an existing SELECT Server (e.g. 2004 edition) is installed
- Multiple gateways may be installed as needed
- Choose the Gateway Only option in the installer
- XM applications are activated against Bentley’s Hosted Server
- Nothing is required to be installed, Bentley’s state-of-the-art data center bears this burden
2. We will only be running pre-XM applications at our site(s)
Needed Components: SELECT Server Gateway service
- SELECT Server Gateway service (pre-XM applications)
- A gateway should be installed where ever an existing SELECT Server (e.g. 2004 edition) is installed
- Multiple gateways may be installed as needed
- Choose the Gateway Only option in the installer
3. We will only be running XM applications at our site(s)
Needed Components: Nothing to install
- All XM applications are activated against Bentley’s Hosted Server
- Nothing is required to be installed, Bentley’s state-of-the-art data center bears this burden
Deployed SELECT Server: Both SELECT Server and the SELECT Server Gateway service may need to be installed. See the scenarios below to determine which components are needed.
