Hosting with Bentley Provides Zero-Configuration Option for Deployment
Bentley SELECT subscribers have traditionally deployed the SELECT Server license management tools onto servers in their own organizations. This placed a burden of license management and additional hardware resources on each subscriber. However, it was necessary in previous versions given how SELECT Server worked.
With SELECT Server XM Edition, there is no longer a requirement for a real-time connection from a user’s computer to the licensing server. It is no longer necessary for any organization to shoulder the burden of license server maintenance—unless of course they want to.
Bentley-Hosted Service
Many organizations now request the Bentley-hosted option to manage their license pools in Bentley's state-of-the-art data center, thus removing the burden of license server management. The Bentley-hosted option is an easy, zero-configuration option for all organizations wanting to benefit from pooled licensing.
Bentley-hosted licensing offers all organizations the same benefits of pooled licenses and usage reporting as a deployed server does, but does not require the same hardware, software, or personnel investment.
