The Only Solution Created Specifically for the Analysis and Design of Buildings

Features

Modeling

  • Automatic generation of grids, columns, beams, slab edges, and so on.
  • Model changes easily made and accommodated
  • Dead Load and Live Load floor and roof loads modeled as surface (area), line and point loads, automatically distributed to supporting beams, columns and walls
  • Options to automatically include self-weight of deck, slabs and members
  • Reducible, Unreducible and Storage Live Loads, with Live Load
  • Reduction automatically calculated per the requirements of the specified Building Code
  • Uniform and drifted snow loads and reducible and unreducible Roof Live Loads
  • DXF import of floor framing plans

Analysis and Design

  • RAM Steel provides the design of composite and non-composite steel beams, columns and baseplates per AISC ASD 9th Ed. with Supplement #1 and LRFD 3rd Ed., BS 5950:2000, CAN/CSA S16-01 with Supplement No. 1, and Eurocode, selection of Steel Joists, including K-, LH-, DLH- and KCS series joists, and designation of Joist Girders and design of composite and non-composite castellated and cellular SMI Smartbeams™
  • RAM Frame  provides for the automatic generation of wind story forces per IBC 2006, IBC 2003, IBC 2000, ASCE 7-98, BOCA 99, SBC 99, UBC 97, BS 6399, NBC of Canada, Eurocode, and others and automatic generation of Seismic story forces per IBC 2006, IBC 2003, IBC 2000, ASCE 7-95, BOCA 99, SBC 99, UBC 97, NBC of Canada, Eurocode In addition, a response Spectra analysis and P-Delta analysis are included.  With RAM Frame, code-checking of lateral steel members per AISC ASD 9th with Supplement #1 and LRFD 3rd, BS 5950:2000, CAN/CSA-S16.1 and Eurocode, with color coding of interaction results for easy verification of design status can be performed.
  • In addition, comprehensive checking of steel members for FEMA 350, AISC and UBC seismic requirements for Eccentrically-, Concentrically- and Special Concentrically Braced Frames (including consideration of Chevron and K bracing configurations), and Special-, Intermediate- and Ordinary Moment frames
  • RAM Concrete allows for analysis and design of beams and columns.  Analysis includes Automatic live load skip loading for beam and column forces incorporating ACI 318.  Fully supports the ACI-318 and BS8110 design codes and numerous building codes including IBC 2003/2000, UBC 97, SBC 99 and BOCA 96/99.  Consideration of ACI 318 and BS8110 prescriptive and strength specifications for reinforcing design including spacing, bar cover, and reinforcement ratios is also made. Slenderness considered for concrete columns per ACI 318 Sections 10.11 through 10.13 including automatic effective length and K-factor calculations
  • RAM Structural System also includes fully integrated foundation design with RAM Foundation.  Pile caps, continuous or combined footings,  and spread footings.

Reports and Drawings

  • Comprehensive set of reports, including detailed Design reports and concise Summary reports
  • Comprehensive material takeoff, including piece count, steel tonnage and stud count allowing for comparison of various design schemes
  • Automatic generation of CAD DXF floor plans, column schedule, beam schedule, foundation plan, and foundation schedule
  • CIS/2 file output
