Technical Requirements

Minimum Profile
The minimum recommended workstation profile for running Bentley Descartes V8i  (SELECTseries 2) is:

Operating System:

  • Windows 7
  • Windows 7 x64
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows Vista x64
  • Windows XP Professional (SP2 or later)
  • Windows XP Professional x64
  • Windows XP Home Edition (SP2 or later)
  • Windows Server 2003 (SP1 or later)
  • Windows Server 2003 x64

Processor: Intel or AMD processor 3.0 GHz or greater.

RAM: 512 MB minimum, 2GB recommended. More memory will almost always improve performance, particularly when working with larger models.

Hard Disk: 15 MB free disk space.

Display: Graphics card supported by DirectX 9.0c. See graphics card manufacturer for latest information on DirectX drivers. If no graphics card supported by DirectX can be found, MicroStation will attempt to use software emulation under Windows XP SP2. At least 256 MB of video RAM is recommended. For optimal performance, graphics display color depth should be set to 24-bit or higher. When using a color depth setting of 16-bit, some inconsistencies will be noted.

Bentley Descartes V8i (SELECTseries 2) requires installation one of the following products:

  • MicroStation PowerDraft V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley PowerCivil V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley PowerCivil for North America V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley PowerCivil for Country V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley Power Rail Track V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley Power InRoads V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley Power GEOPAK V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley PowerSurvey V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley MXROAD V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
  • Bentley PowerMap V8i (SELECTseries 2) or higher
