Consolidation of Engineering Schematic Documents and Project Information Into an Integrated Database Environment

Advantages

Concurrent Engineering Environment

AXSYS.Engine is a shared multi-user and multi-discipline environment for reduced project-cycle times. A comprehensive component catalogue eliminates data redundancy, and provides rapid database population and implementation of standard designs. AXSYS.Engine has application in all of the main engineering areas of plant design - process, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and civil and structural. In fact, wherever engineering data is generated, it can be merged and managed by AXSYS.Engine.

Intelligent Engineering Drawing System

AXSYS.Engine is an intelligent drawing system for handling engineering objects and their connectivity. When reviewing or modifying a drawing, users interact with a controlled version of the project database to which constant reference is made. As modifications are made to the drawings, changes are simultaneously made to the project data. In this way, the project database is automatically populated without the need for data re-entry and the consistency between drawings and the database is automatically checked and ensured.

Application Tools and Flexible Data Modeling

AXSYS.Engine comes with built-in structures for process, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation applications. It also has its own application macro programming language as well as Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) and tools for configuring the user interface and reports. Users can configure unique components and component attributes.

Change and Revision Management

All changes made to a project or drawings are controlled at a granular level. Each property change can be tracked back to the user who made the change. The revision management capabilities also provide the ability to fully manage and track all published revisions of data and can be fully configured to meet specific revision tracking requirements.

Object-to-Object Connectivity

Connections between components—cable conductors connected to terminals, pipes connected to equipment, and others—are made as they are drawn and the connectivity is automatically written into the project database and checked for consistency.
