Bentley’s LEAP Bridge Enterprise was recently released for India. To introduce LEAP Bridge Enterprise to India, the software was used to re-create the design and analysis of the South Kasheli Bridge, and the results were then validated against the detailed calculations from the original design consultant. The South Kasheli Bridge is a 13-span prestressed concrete (post-tensioned) box girder bridge. The bridge was designed by S.N. Bhobe and Associates using Bentley’s STAAD.Pro for analysis and spreadsheets for the design. The results obtained from LEAP Bridge Enterprise matched closely with those performed by S.N. Bhobe and Associates. Using LEAP Bridge Enterprise showed a potential time savings of up to 80 percent.

Southern Company Services
Plant Wansley Units 1-2 FGD Addition. Plant Wansley in Carrolton, Georgia, has two coal-fired boiler units and two combined cycle gas-fired units. Units 1 and 2 are being retrofitted with one scrubber per unit to significantly reduce sulfur oxide emissions. The major challenge was the completion of the design phase in a compressed schedule while keeping the two power plant units running at all times except for scheduled outages.

First developed in 1996 for the Campos Basin, Petrobras S.A.'s $20 million Sistema de Gerenciamento de Obstáculos (SGO) Obstacles Management System has been systematically mapping surface and deep-sea obstacles for more than 10 years. It now has more than 40,000 registered obstacles in the Campos Basin, as well as the Santos, Espirito Santo, and Rio Grande do Norte oil basins, which together total about 160,000 square kilometers.

Oil field development. This oil field development project in the Middle East covers 20 infield flowlines for oil production water supply and water reinjection with a total length of approximately 100 kilometers within difficult terrain.

Bechtel
Jamnagar Export Refinery Project. Bechtel is collaborating on the Jamnagar Export Refinery Project (JERP) in India, which has a plot plan bigger than that of London and a target completion time of less than 36 months.

VECO Alaska
The VECO Alaska design team simultaneously engineered drill sites CD3 and CD4 for Conoco Phillips Alaska Inc. Tasked with reusing project data to generate several new drill sites and reduce engineering costs to the client, VECO generated and executed a method for reusing intelligent project data. This repeatability of design three and four times produced an estimated 20-30 percent reduction in cost of drill-site design during each data reuse.

At Aker Kvaerner, the engineering environment in maintenance, modification, and operations traditionally used separate systems to handle the many different types of project data. At any one time, there could be 50 to several hundred contracts, facilities, and projects in progress.
