Offers Enhancements to Input Interface and Core Technical Models
Plus New Technical Models

Bentley has released version 8.6 of Bentley AXSYS®.Integrity, its fully integrated, risk-based inspection (RBI) planning and data management tool developed in cooperation with ESR Technology, one of the United Kingdom’s leading engineering services providers. The software consists of intelligently linked databases and technical codes connected in a manner that allows the best possible use of plant data.

“Increasing numbers of owner-operators are demanding an independent risk assessment at the end of the front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase, especially with respect to corrosion risk assessment on critical process units,” said Arvind Patel, industry development director for Bentley Plant. “AXSYS®.Integrity 8.6 provides a fast and reliable assessment of risks of failure due to corrosion.”

The key enhancements of AXSYS®.Integrity 8.6 include:

  • Significant improvement in the input interface, allowing an intuitive user experience. Data requirements are fully optimized, which – coupled with the extensive materials database – means that maximum value can be obtained with a greatly reduced data input burden.

  • Multiple improvements in core technical models – for example, the implementation of ISO 15156 on materials in sour environments. This document gives requirements and recommendations for the selection and qualification of carbon and low-alloy steels, corrosion-resistant alloys, and other alloys for service in equipment H2S-containing environments. This is a key requirement, especially with the increasingly corrosive nature of today’s hydrocarbon feedstocks.

  • New technical models covering a range of potentially important degradation scenarios – for example, in acid corrosion, mercury embrittlement, stress corrosion cracking and high-temperature oxidation. These models build on ESR Technology’s long-standing asset integrity background and extend AXSYS®.Integrity as a comprehensive risk-based inspection software package.

AXSYS.Integrity Targets Parts at Greatest Risk

Inspection and maintenance of mechanical equipment is vital in maintaining the reliability and operational safety of process plants, but traditional calendar-based inspection schemes can be expensive and sometimes ineffective. AXSYS®.Integrity  saves time and money by targeting inspection on the parts that represent the greatest risk.

AXSYS®.Integrity assesses every component for the likelihood of failure and its consequences, providing the basis for selecting inspection areas and appropriate inspection methods. It then optimizes spending for inspection budgets.

AXSYS®.Integrity provides key attributes not widely available in RBI systems and provides data integration among design, process information, and inspection functions. Fully consistent with API 580 guidelines for quantitative analysis, AXSYS.Integrity employs predictive models that have been proved to be effective by specialists for many years. The models can be optimized for specific plant inspection schedules as part of an overall asset management program.

Designed for Ease of Use

AXSYS®.Integrity is designed for ease of use, minimizing data collection while maintaining and ensuring accuracy. It enables authorized access to data and manages the exchange of information so that users can easily determine the frequency of inspection for any component. In addition, it develops comprehensive and detailed inspection schedules, with forward-planning dates and suitable inspection techniques included in simple-to-generate reports.

“Risk-based methodologies are now commonplace in the inspection management community,” said Dr. Geoff Eckold, engineering director for ESR Technology. “However, the collaboration of ESR Technology, which has more than 30 years of experience developing plant assessment strategies, and Bentley, a leading provider of software for the lifecycle of the world’s infrastructure, makes AXSYS®.Integrity a uniquely valuable product. This latest release represents a significant step forward, giving users confidence they will be using the best technology to assure their asset integrity.”
