Presented by:  Jeff Burrill and Julie Hale - FAA
Summary:

The FAA needed a standard electronic drawing management system (EDMS) across their offices. Initially, custom solutions were pursued, but it was nearly impossible for the agency to develop a system that didn’t break the bank. Legacy data also remained an issue.

ProjectWise has become the tool that allowed the FAA to unite under one umbrella. An environment was developed that took into account workflow and data needs of all FAA offices, and included many of the local nuances of each office. With the help of custom utilities, Bentley’s on-site support and training, the FAA implemented ProjectWise. Over the course of five months, seven sites added to the original two (which were upgraded), over 1 million documents were imported from nine different legacy systems and 100,000 folders created.

What you can learn:
  • How the FAA developed an EDMS environment that accommodates the workflow and needs of all departments.
