Dry Fork Station Unit 1
Gillette, Wyoming

Located near Gillette, Wyo., this new power plant will provide a highly reliable, environmentally sound, and economical resource of electric power needed to support the region's growing economy. In addition, it will burn locally mined Powder River Basin coal, further supporting the area economy.

The Dry Fork Station Unit 1 project is a complex industrial design project with a large project team spread over many organizations, locations, and design platforms. Meeting the overall project quality, cost, and schedule goals is highly dependent on the quality and efficiency of the design/engineering process and on the deliverables provided to the constructor and the client. MicroStation and Bentley Navigator continue to significantly contribute to the team's success in overcoming project challenges.

FINALIST

ECIDI

ECIDI Baihetan Hydroelectric Power Station Project
Yunnan Province, China

The Baihetan hydroelectric power station is the highest dam in China, with a storage capacity and installed capacity just smaller than three gorge hydroelectric power stations. The huge project is a stratagem project with three gorge hydroelectric power stations on the Yangtze River.

An inaugural 3D project, ECIDI discovered that by using a Bentley solution like GEOPAK, efficiency is greatly enhanced, which then provides more time to optimize the design. The collaboration and managed environment capabilities of ProjectWise also empower multidisciplinary teams distributed across locations.

FINALIST

Eskom

Integrated Engineering Management System for Eskom Lethabo Power Station
Vereeniging, South Africa

The goal of this project in South Africa was to implement an integrated engineering business process and engineering documentation management system that will provide the power station with standardized processes, consolidation and integration capabilities, visibility and access to engineering information, process control of engineering processes, and digital plant visual platform with associated information to ensure sustainable long-term plant asset health.

A customized configuration of ProjectWise enabled advanced workflow capabilities and user management, and uSMART technology directly imported point clouds into MicroStation without impacting CAD software efficiency. Innovative use of Bentley technology to address specified business needs and requirements demonstrated the adaptability of the software.
