Efficient GIS for Electric Utilities

Advantages

Industry Standard Data Model

Bentley Electric includes a robust data model based on years of experience modeling electric utility solutions. The data model encapsulates properties, connectivity, relationships, and the rules that maintain integrity of the data.

The standard data model allows the utility to install the solution and see immediate productivity gains; however, Bentley Electric’s data model independence also allows for modification or complete replacement of the data model.

Conduit Management

Bentley Electric includes a robust set of tools to manage complex underground networks.  These tools leverage the Inference Engine and the Feature Editor to set connectivity and relationships. With the Diagram Editor, conduit arrangements can be visualized and edited with a cross section and wall layout display.

Network Tracing

The Bentley Electric network engine supports parameter-based network trace analysis. Trace constraints—for example, stop conditions—are sets of user-defined, feature-specific queries used by the network engine to precisely control trace behavior.  Trace Events allow for precise customization of the expected results.

Choice of Data Stores

Bentley Electric supports various persistence models, including DGN with RDBMS and Oracle Spatial in a two-tier configuration.

Adding Bentley Expert Designer Electric and Bentley Geospatial Server expands this capability to include three-tier connections and the ability to integrate with GE Smallworld.
