Distributed DGNs - examples and benefits:

Owner/operators of large plants and buildings can easily manage the simultaneous documentation changes that are required to maintain as-built conditions.

Using distributed DGNs technology, multiple civil engineers can work in parallel to add design details to the base roadway model, accelerating time to project completion.

AE firms can use distributed DGNs technology to save time and money by allowing multiple subcontractors to work on the same DGN file at the same time.

ProjectWise V8 XM Edition - Bentley's integrated system of collaboration servers - provides innovations that enable companies to work as one by enabling true distributed engineering, simplifying the management of multiple, simultaneous projects, and providing enterprise-wide access to project information.

The ProjectWise V8 XM Edition System

Some of the new innovations in ProjectWise V8 XM Edition:

Distributed DGNs
Using distributed DGN technology in ProjectWise V8 XM Edition, users can participate in true distributed engineering. ProjectWise users can distribute multiple copies of a DGN file to many users, contractors, or partners at the same time. These users can then edit their copies in parallel and submit them back to ProjectWise, where the changed files are automatically merged into the original DGN with a complete change history.

SharePoint Integration
The integration of ProjectWise V8 XM Edition and Microsoft SharePoint technology provides all users with a single source for project status and other information. Key ProjectWise components are added to the SharePoint portal to give managers the ability to track, view, and share project status, find project information, and coordinate document reviews. Project teams can utilize native SharePoint functionality such as threaded discussions and integrated E-mail to collaborate with team members.

Project Templates
Project templates give companies a faster and simpler way to set up new projects in ProjectWise V8 XM Edition. New projects are "seeded" with the standards, structure, resources, and access control of a previous project, automatically building in quality and consistency. Project metrics, such as number of sheets and number of documents per status, can easily be defined, tracked, and measured on a per-project basis.
