Blue Ridge would not have been able to do the work we have accomplished without the Bentley Communications software. We utilize an HFC architecture, and it allows us to easily keep track of all our plant and perform engineering calculations during the design process.”

To design one node would take a designer two days manually, and it now takes less than a quarter of that time with the Bentley software. We used to have to keep track of the number of amps in cascade. If a trunk amp needed changing, a designer would need two days to recalculate the system. Now, we change the trunk amp on the fly and continue designing. The amount of time saved by using the software is huge.”

The Locate Outage function “has proved to be very successful. We can practically pinpoint the exact location where the outage occurred.”

“The reports have saved us a lot of money. Rather than over-ordering hundreds of supplies to ensure we have adequate stock, the Material Requisition report provides the actual number of items required for the project. We don’t have a warehouse full of unnecessary parts.”

“Because GVTC engineers now design directly in Bentley Fiber and Bentley Coax, time is saved by eliminating the step in which the Mapping department posted changes to the MicroStation maps. This also eliminated a verification step when items returned from Mapping.”

Bentley Fiber and Coax modules also do all the engineering calculations on the fly. When a change is made in an existing design, the new design levels are automatically rippled throughout the design. This saves countless hours calculating new tap values.”

“Bentley Communications software and publishing technology put critical information at the fingertips of everyone in the GVTC organization. These tools offer everyone from Engineering to Sales the ability to access valuable information at any given time.”

“The reliability of the Bentley Communications software is superb. Zero hours downtime related to hardware, software, or data loss was recorded in the last three years. The data was kept at 98 percent real-time accuracy. Systems of checks and balances are incorporated into the Bentley software which makes data errors very rare.”

“Our customers benefit greatly due to the Bentley Communications software, they trust our commitment to as-built documentation and our ability to quickly pinpoint system outages. Customers on our network know their service will not likely be interrupted due to documentation errors.”

“With the addition of our new build areas, we are able to provide fiber to the growing demand in New York City, Long Island, and New Jersey. We can provide capacity on transatlantic cable systems and colocation facilities in Europe through the cable landing sites on Long Island. Bentley’s Communication software’s reliability in engineering, designing, and managing the network has enabled us to meet our project goals and continue to expand the network and the business.”

“Using Bentley Communication’s FTTH functionality allowed us to not only implement FTTH in a timely fashion, but manage it as well. No other tool we evaluated would have given us the complete package we desired.”

“The ability Bentley's Communications software provides to easily document network assets linked to a back end database has created a scale of efficiency previously unrealized in the CATV Engineering industry, and a potential of which the possibilities are only beginning to be tapped.”
