The City of Gentofte is the seventh largest municipality in Denmark, one of the 18 municipalities in Copenhagen. The municipality is responsible for public schools, child and elderly support programs, physical planning, utilities infrastructure, facilities management, and fire and emergency services. The City has a large volume of spatial and attribute data stored in several different formats. Difficulty in accessing the data created inefficient coordination between the planners, engineers and the public works department.
To solve this problem, Gentofte implemented an interoperable solution comprised of Bentley’s engineering applications and ESRI’s planning and analysis applications. This new strategy leverages the Bentley/ESRI AEC GIS interoperability with the result that more time can be spent on engineering, not searching and converting geospatial data.
