BrIM Overview | Benefits of BrIM | Bridge Technology Obstacles
The industry’s most comprehensive bridge engineering solution.
Bentley’s foundation for BrIM is a family of bridge solutions that address virtually
any bridge type. These software systems represent tremendous strides made in the
last two decades in particular.
They enhance problem solving at every stage of the project delivery process—
planning, design and engineering to construction simulation and analysis.
They have been put to the test on existing structures as well as new-build bridges.
The end result is that bridges are remarkably better engineered today using these tools.

RM Bridge
International software for bridges of all types. This comprehensive structural engineering, design and analysis system is employed worldwide for large, complex bridges. It can handle segmented, cable-stayed—most recently, the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world (see Sutong story)—suspension bridges, and long crossings. RM offers linear and nonlinear analysis. Among its many remarkable capabilities, RM performs 4D modeling of the bridge over time in the 4th dimension (time) to enable problem solving for construction sequencing, rolling stock analysis, and seismic and weather events—including wind dynamics.
LEAP Bridge
Industry-standard solution for concrete bridges— which make up 70 percent of the new bridges constructed today in the US. Thousands of bridge engineers, 38 U.S. state departments of transportation, and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) rely on this integrated parametric design and analysis toolset. LEAP handles pre-cast, cast-in-place, reinforced and post-tensioned concrete bridges. Cast-in-place geometry and substructure and superstructure analysis are handled with one common project database for up-to-minute accuracy. The LEAP system supports industry standards for data exchange and load rating.

Bentley BridgeModeler/LARS
Bridge load rating calculation, analysis, and analytical modeling of existing and planned bridges. These applications conform to the to the latest AASHTO Bridge specifications and use AASHTOWare Virtus data as well as AASHTO BARS files, extending the life of legacy bridge information. Bentley BridgeModeler and LARS provide the bridge information that is used by Bentley SUPERLOAD, an oversize/overweight vehicle permit and routing system.
