STAAD.Pro V8i (SELECTseries 2) Released

http://www.uptilt.com/content/9716/Bentley_Images/CarlosAguera_Image_82x102.jpgCarlos Aguera, Product Manager for STAAD.Pro, Bentley Systems, Incorporated

To meet the extended needs of STAAD.Pro users working in the nuclear market, STAAD.Pro V8i (SELECTseries 2) has undergone the additional QA procedures to meet the requirements of the NRC. Apart from addressing over 200 reported issues and enhancement requests (all documented in the Revision History document), there have been a few key enhancements, including:

  • Additional nuclear design code ASME NF 3000-2004
  • Enhancements to the AISC N690 steel design modules
  • Support of combinations of combinations
  • Enhancing STAAD.Pro to support up to 50 response spectrum load cases

Additionally, to keep our users fully informed, the documentation now includes a "Known Issues" section that outlines current limitations found to exist in the program, but also suggested workarounds where possible.

This new version is now available for download from the Bentley SELECTserver.

Structural Synchronizer V8i (SELECTseries 2) (ISM 2.0) Released

http://www.uptilt.com/content/9716/Bentley_Images/RaoulKarp_Image_75x108.jpgRaoul Karp, Director of Product Management, Structural, Bentley Systems, Incorporated

The Structural Synchronizer is the technology at the heart of our Integrated Structural Modeling Interoperability Framework. It allows you to: view and approve changes being made between two models before they happen, to go back in time to see who made what changes to the model and when, to create 3D PDF files to share with your clients, and create i-models to perform clash detection and construction sequencing. The best part is that it's all free from our website here.

Integrated Structural Modeling 2.0 adds concrete reinforcing, steel joists, and more to the mix of data that can be shared between applications.

RAM Structural System: ISM 2.0 Interoperability

http://www.uptilt.com/content/9716/Bentley_Images/JoshTaylor_Image_82x91.jpgJosh Taylor, Product Manager, Structural, Bentley Systems, Incorporated

The upcoming RAM Structural System V14.04 release will be compatible with the ISM format! Steel reinforcing bars are among the data objects that will be transferred though the link from RAM Structural System to ISM. Thus, the reinforcing you design in RAM Concrete now becomes physical 3D objects that can be reviewed in ISM's 3D viewer and, later this year, read into Bentley's documentation and detailing products to produce final deliverables, without duplicated effort. It's all made possible with Structural Synchronizer, which allows Bentley's structural applications to share data with one another through the ISM format.

See it in action on YouTube. Click here to view a brief video demonstration of the building design workflow ISM enables.

RAM Elements: Applying Multiple Bracing Points for Efficient Member Design

http://www.uptilt.com/content/9716/Bentley_Images/FranciscoDiego_Image_72x100.jpgFrancisco Diego, Product Manager for RAM Elements, Bentley Systems, Incorporated

Even proficient users once in a while miss small but productive features in RAM Elements. Although very simple to use, there's a lot to it and keeping up with the enhancements can sometimes be difficult. That is why in this video we talk about a very useful tool for the design of steel members. Before v11.0, you could only specify one unbraced length (either Lb, Lx, Ly or Lt) per member, right? Not anymore. Now RAM Elements allows you to specify multiple unbraced lengths per member, making the design less conservative by having the software design each segment with its corresponding moments, Cb, exact length, etc.

Already have v11.0 or later installed? This video will show you how to get the most out of your steel member design.
