 GEOSPATIAL
BE Conference 2006: Accuracy of Spatial Data Duration: 0:27:37
Presented by:  Lars Bodum, Associate Professor at the Division Geomatics of the University of Aalborg, Germany
Summary:

A lot of the data now in use does not have the accuracy we need today. Often, geospatial data is based on inaccurate digital and analog data sources. Unfortunately, most geospatial data is 2D only, thus neglecting a potentially important dimension for many. With a trend towards higher data accuracy and 3D --underground, ground elevation, man made objects -- data maintenance has a lot of catching up to do.

What you can learn:
  • How to define accuracy in surveying and engineering
  • About interoperability -- from construction to e-governance
  • How to transition from 2D towards 3D
  • Challenges for the future
