Event summary
Bentley's first Water Loss Seminar and Workshop 2008, took place January 28-30 at the Barceló Hotel, located in the exclusive town of Guadalmina, in the heart of the Costa del Sol, Spain.
At this two-day event (being held in conjunction with the Water & Environmental Exchange (WEX)), more than 60 water professionals from over 20 countries gathered to hear experts present the latest modeling techniques to detect, quantify, and reduce water losses.
The panel sessions for this event featured examples of how engineers from academia, public and private companies are currently dealing with water losses and the progress made on these issues.
Attendees also learned how to use the latest modelling technology available in Bentley’s WaterGEMS and WaterCAD V8 XM, leading solutions in the analysis and design of water distribution systems, to locate and reduce water losses.
Bentley’s water loss technology
Bentley provides utilities and consulting firms with several solutions which can help them make decisions on how best to control leakage: replacing mains, repairing leads and/or reducing pressure to reduce leakage:

Bentley Water provides engineers with the information they need to identify areas with bad leak history, and perform analysis of whether to replace pipes or continue to repair them.
WaterCAD/WaterGEMS’ Darwin Calibrator* enables modellers to leverage flow and pressure data to find locations for more detailed sonic leak detection.
Sometimes there are leaks that can’t be found (unavoidable leakage). In that case, water professionals can use WaterCAD/WaterGEMS’ Pressure Dependant Demand (PDD) analysis to study the amount that you can expect to reduce leakage by reducing pressure, and look at the impact on customer service.
Watch a recorded demonstration of WaterCAD/WaterGEMS' water leakage technology using the Darwin Calibrator module.
* Darwin Calibrator module is included with WaterGEMS and is available for WaterCAD (for an additional fee).
