ELCAD is an innovative computer aided design/geometry teaching methodology that provides the possibility for students to improve their skills at an accelerated rate. Companies experience a chronic shortage of graduates with good technical knowledge, while academic institutions are looking at the ways of reducing course load and teaching more in a shorter time. The ELCAD methodology is a solution to this problem.
ELCAD started as a project initiated by the Austrian Research and Support Centre for the Gifted and Talented (oezbf) directed towards understanding the specific needs of students studying geometry via an online-course. The project was designed to identify features of an online training platform that support the students’ learning process, and to help develop a didactical concept for ideal learning and teaching situations.
Why consider this program?
A study by University of Rostock showed that with this new method, students could improve their learning quotient up to 9 times faster than using standard methods. The study conducted by Dr. Volker Runow and Dr. Christoph Perleth showed that while in a normal course, students improved their abilities 50 PISA-points per 12 months. The ELCAD method offers the possibility for improvement to 300 PISA-Points (Programme for International Student Assessment-Points) within 8 months.
