What's New in ProjectWise Geospatial Management?

ProjectWise Geospatial Management V8i (SELECTseries 3) takes advantage of the wealth of new features and innovations in ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 3) and also adds significant new enhancements:

Assigning Spatial Locations to Raster Using EXIF Tags

It is now possible to read the raster EXIF tag when scanning files in order to assign the spatial location. This option allows creating a spatial location´s geometry of type point, vector, or triangle depending on available tags. This new functionality creates a spatial location that represents what the camera “sees” instead of only from where the image was taken.

Geo iDesktop for ArcMap

ArcMap version 10 is now supported.

ProjectWise Geospatial Management V8i (SELECTseries 2) takes advantage of the wealth of new features and innovations in ProjectWise V8i (SELECTseries 2) and also adds a significant new enhancement:

Geospatial Background Map Example

When the Geospatial Map Engine option is installed along with the ProjectWise Geospatial Management Integration Server, a Background Map is provided as an example. In order to use this map, in ProjectWise Administrator, when selecting the menu item from Background Maps > Geospatial Maps, a new dialog will pop up and ask if you want to use the provided example background map.

Spatial Locations Displayed as Thumbnails

Spatial locations can now be displayed as ProjectWise Thumbnails. Thumbnails are generated from ProjectWise Administrator. Thumbnail extraction is a process involving extracting the thumbnail image from the file (if one exists), and then storing the image as a binary object in the ProjectWise datasource. A new item is added in the View menu of ProjectWise Explorer; in order to select Thumbnail method for the geometry display: View > Geometry Display > Thumbnail.

Spatial Location Creation Using KML File

Spatial locations can now be created from KML files. For more information on how to use a KML file, refer to the Load Spatial Location section of the ProjectWise Explorer documentation.

Raster Metadata Support

It is now possible to read the raster metadata when scanning files. This option allows to map any existing raster tags to a ProjectWise environment attribute.

New Application to Create Spatial Location Files

With the new mvba (slfShapeXFMExample), you can create the spatial location file (SLF) directly from DGN XFM files (using Bentley Map) and then load it to automatically assign the spatial location to different documents or folders in ProjectWise. For more information on how to create a spatial location file, refer to the Spatial Location File Capture section of the ProjectWise Explorer documentation.

New Spatial Views Editor Dialog

The Spatial View Editor dialog in ProjectWise Explorer has been improved. It is now accessible from the new Manage Spatial Views dialog (View > Manage Spatial Views), and now allows creating spatial views with thematic symbolization from ProjectWise Administrator.

Geo iDesktop for MapInfo

MapInfo versions 8.5, 9, 10, and 10.5 are now supported.
