Enables Enterprise Workflows with Oracle Spatial

Výhody

Live Editing of Oracle Spatial Databases

Perform live viewing and editing of an Oracle Spatial database simply by opening a DGN document stored in ProjectWise or Bentley Geospatial Server. This allows users to take advantage of the editing productivity of MicroStation while working directly with the Oracle Spatial information. The approach supported by ProjectWise Connector for Oracle also allows users to take advantage of the native versioning capabilities of Oracle. ProjectWise Connector for Oracle facilitates the process by allowing for the creation of Database Connection Documents (in a DGN format) that can be used to connect directly to the Oracle database.

Disconnected Editing Workflows

Perform fully reliable disconnected field editing and then re-synchronize your device once back in the office. This avoids repetitive or unnecessary trips to the office by allowing field workers to carry the most current information into the field and improves data quality and currency by capturing in-the-field edits, especially useful in areas of low network availability. Distributed batch extraction and posting enables any disconnected editing workflow. ProjectWise Connector for Oracle allows the creation of Disconnected Database Documents (in a DGN format) inside ProjectWise. These DGN files contain all the information from the database and therefore can be edited on the field. Attribution and metadata are stored as XML in the DGN file.

Security and Workflow Management

Integrate security and workflow management with spatial database management. ProjectWise Connector for Oracle is fully integrated with the security and workflow capabilities of ProjectWise. The result of Connector operations is a document (DGN file) to which all these capabilities can be applied. This allows for the improvement of efficiency of business processes across entire organizations and reduces administrative overhead.

Complete Interoperability

ProjectWise Connector for Oracle enables infrastructure GIS users and others to easily interact with enterprise spatial databases. It also facilitates interoperability with other systems that take advantage of Oracle Spatial. Information created in Bentley Map can be posted to Oracle via ProjectWise Connector for Oracle and used by other systems. Data is shared with minimal effort, data isolation is resolved, and efficiencies increased. The Bentley implementation follows all the Oracle Spatial standards, making it simple for any SQL application to access the data.

Native Oracle Spatial Topology

ProjectWise Connector for Oracle supports the Oracle Spatial persistent topology model. It allows querying and editing the topology model in connected or disconnected mode. Oracle Spatial’s topology model supports topological relationships such as adjacency, containment, and connectivity, and describes how different spatial features are related to each other, for example, how a land parcel shares a boundary with a road.

ProjectWise Connector for Oracle adheres to the native spatial data types defined by Oracle, ensuring full interoperability with other Oracle-compliant applications. ProjectWise Connector for Oracle is semantically rich, meaning the database schema, domain constraints, and other information required to maintain the integrity of the information according to the enterprise definition is respected during editing workflows in Bentley Map. The fidelity of the information extracted from Oracle is ensured by bringing with it relations, validation rules, projections and other information for use in the Bentley Map application.

Temporal Data Management

Historical maps and reports needed to support studies, planning, or meet government regulations can be produced by leveraging historical data management capabilities. ProjectWise Connector for Oracle leverages the time component capabilities of Oracle that allow storing historical data in the database. When this mode is enabled, deleted features are not deleted from database, they are retired. Updated features are not strictly updated, but rather a copy of the old feature is made and the updated feature also exists in the database.
It is also possible to make edits in the present but have them reflected only in the future via futuristic temporal data management. This avoids the need to edit the database at a specific time for time critical updates to the database.

Professional Data Loading Utilities

Easily migrate to Oracle Spatial by leveraging the data loading tools. They allow for fast migration from legacy systems, saving you time and money. The tools are standard to Oracle practice so there is no training needed for start using them.
Oracle database administrators familiar with the Oracle SQL Loader can use the ProjectWise Connector for Oracle capability to create input scripts for SQL Loader from input DGNs. The SQL Loader files can then be used to load the data in Oracle.

Multi-User Editing via Oracle Versioning

ProjectWise Connector for Oracle works with the standard Oracle Workspace Manager to enable multi-user editing workflows. It provides for versioning and long transactions with pessimistic locking or optimistic locking. This means versions created by the connector can be accessed by any other SQL clients.

Reconciliation tools help users reconcile versions by providing tools to identify, browse, visualize, and resolve conflicts and commit the reconciled version. The tools extend the capabilities of the client application, such as Bentley Map. Using the reconciliation tools, users can visualize all versions connected in the database and use the Conflict Inspector to find and fix conflicts and commit the reconciled version.

Easy Administration

ProjectWise Connector for Oracle is designed to offer a single point of administration for discovering Oracle tables, setting feature behavior, presentation, and editing rules, and for making these settings available to end users in Bentley Map. The administrator tools are also used to configure the parameters, referred to as configuration sets, controlling the extract or post workflow. The administrator tools make it easy to specify database connection information and metadata needed by ProjectWise Connector for Oracle.
