Time was a critical factor in developing a design plan for a new manufacturing facility to produce AstraZeneca's promising new stomach ulcer medication Nexium IV, a follow-up to the drug Losec. The pharmaceutical giant put the bid out for the new USD $70 million facility to be built in Milan, Italy or Sodertalje, Sweden, where AstraZeneca already has two large industrial estates. When the Sodeltalje location was decided, SWECO FFNS accepted the challenge.
With only one month of lead time before construction was set to begin, SWECO FFNS had to quickly develop its plans. The company was required to start delivering drawings immediately to construction contractors.
