What are the differences between SewerCAD and SewerGEMS?
Applications SewerCAD is oriented toward design of sanitary sewers and systems with extensive pumping. SewerGEMS is oriented toward primarily gravity systems which involve surface water hydrology such as combined sewer systems. Both can be used for capacity analysis and master planning.
Contact your Bentley representative to discuss your application to determine which is more appropriate.
Hydraulic Elements SewerCAD models manholes, circular pipes networks, wet wells, pumps and outfalls. In addition to all of these elements, SewerGEMS users can also model open channels, gutters, ponds, inlets, and catchments. |
 |
Calculation Engine SewerCAD offers a Steady State / EPS calculation engine appropriate for new system design. SewerGEMS also provides a Dynamic Solution appropriate for capacity analyses, detention, looped systems and diversions. |
 |
Flows SewerCAD models sanitary systems, whereas SewerGEMS models sanitary and stormwater systems. |
|
Platforms SewerCAD comes standard with two platforms: Stand-alone and MicroStation.
SewerCAD users can choose to add the AutoCAD platform for an additional fee. SewerGEMS comes standard with four interoperable platforms: Stand-alone, ArcGIS, MicroStation, and AutoCAD. |
