Define and Deliver Project Instrumentation Data Using a CAD-independent Drawing Generation Engine

Feature: Support for Foundation Fieldbus Segment Design

In Bentley Instrumentation and Wiring 8.9.3, you can model foundation fieldbus segments.

Create segment tags to group instruments together and connect these instruments via spurs to fieldbus bricks. The multiple instrument signals can then be connected back to a port on an H1 card via a single pair of trunk cable. The trunk cable can be connected via multiple levels of marshalling if required. Instruments can be daisy chained together in the field before being connected to the fieldbus brick.

The segment drawing is generated using new “Composite Drawing” functionality which combines fixed templates with dynamic AutoGenerate sections of the drawing.

You have the ability to assign segment I/O to H1 card ports prior to modelling the connections and Bentley Instrumentation and Wiring will check the connections as they are modelled against this allocation.

Bentley Instrumentation and Wiring 8.9.3 allows you to assign an instrument tag to a segment and a loop, thereby allowing the same instrument data to appear on segment drawings and traditional loop drawings.

Bentley Instrumentation and Wiring uses the existing Device Builder functionality to create terminators, repeaters and power conditioners. These can be saved as standards to allow swift data reuse.

Example segment templates and symbols are shipped with Bentley Instrumentation and Wiring 8.9.3, along with new data manipulation views and report formats.
