More about Bentley Building

Presented by:  Mark Bax and James Warne - Building Design Partnership
Summary:  This presentation introduces BDP as a multi-disciplinary design practice committed to a high standard of integrated low energy design illustrated with key office projects, followed by an explanation of BDP’s experience with BIM on projects where the functionality has increased from simple plan and section extractions to more complex scheduling and area calculations.

It then moves onto two case studies where lessons learned during the practical application of energy saving strategies of an award winning office project are then applied to a second case study which uses BIM more extensively to:

  • Automate drawing production and scheduling
  • Ensure design co-ordination using interference detection
  • Export 3D information into design modelling

Successful implementation of BIM, difficulties integrating Bentley products with other analysis software, and what BIM means for the way inter-disciplinary work will be undertaken in the future is also discussed.

Recorded at Be Conference London 2007
